Campaign Policies: Building a Stronger Camden County Together
As your candidate for County Commissioner in District 1, I’m committed to policies that will uplift our community and address the key issues we face in Camden County. My campaign is focused on three main priorities: transparency in government, community wellbeing, and infrastructure development.
Transparency and Trust
Camden County deserves a government that is open, honest, and accountable. I believe in creating direct lines of communication between local leaders and residents to ensure that all voices are heard. My goal is to:-Host regular community forums for open discussion and feedback.-Promote clear and timely updates on county decisions, budget allocations, and projects.-Advocate for transparent processes in county meetings and public forums to protect the voices and rights of all residents.
Community Wellbeing
A thriving community is one where residents feel safe, supported, and valued. I am committed to policies that promote economic empowerment, enhance public safety, and invest in our youth and families. To achieve this, I plan to:-Support local businesses as the backbone of our economy, creating job opportunities and encouraging local spending.-Partner with organizations that provide health, education, workforce training and mentorship programs.-Foster initiatives for parks, recreation, and green spaces, ensuring Camden County remains a welcoming and healthy place to live.
Infrastructure for the Future
Our county’s growth depends on a solid foundation. By investing in infrastructure, we can improve quality of life and attract more opportunities. My focus will be on:-Ensuring roads, public facilities, and utilities meet the needs of our growing population.-Advocating for environmentally responsible development to protect Camden’s natural beauty.-Expanding access to high-speed internet, modernizing transportation, and maintaining essential services that support all areas of our community.
Camden's Voter Guide Q & A
How do you balance the increased residential development with the protection of the environment and natural beauty of the county?
As someone who jogs daily along the beautiful Satilla River and whose family enjoys the natural treasures of Crooked River State Park, I deeply understand the importance of preserving Camden County’s natural beauty. My parents grow fresh produce in their garden, and I've seen firsthand how important our land and environment are to the people here. Balancing residential growth with environmental protection is essential, and it begins with smart land use planning. We can encourage development that minimizes its ecological footprint by incorporating green spaces, protecting our waterways, and ensuring that wildlife habitats remain intact. I firmly support working with developers to adhere to eco- friendly standards and even offering incentives for conservation efforts, so we build communities that are sustainable for future generations. This is a collaborative effort—our community’s voice is crucial in these decisions. I’m committed to listening and working together to ensure that growth benefits everyone without sacrificing the natural beauty we cherish.
What do you plan to do as a commissioner to bolster economic growth in Camden County?
As a candidate for county commissioner, my focus is on empowering small businesses, which are the backbone of our community. Small businesses not only create jobs and stimulate local spending but also foster innovation, making them key drivers of our economic future. To support them, I plan to advocate for initiatives that provide access to funding, business development training, marketing assistance, and 'Buy Local' campaigns. My goal is to create a supportive environment that encourages new ventures and helps existing businesses expand. In addition, we need to invite industries into Camden County to diversify and strengthen our economy. Expanding high-speed internet access and investing in infrastructure improvements could be key to attracting tech and manufacturing industries. We should form partnerships with state and federal agencies to secure funding for these type large-scale projects. Workforce development will also be a priority, with a focus on skills training, military transition support, and STEM education to ensure our workforce is prepared for the jobs of the future.I believe that through strategic planning and collaboration, we can build an economy that serves the needs of both local businesses and new industries, while preserving Camden County’s unique character and sense of community.
Some residents have been critical of the communication of elected commissioners and their willingness to engage in dialogue from the public during commission meetings. How do you plan to effectively communicate with constituents during meetings and outside of meetings?
As a candidate for county commissioner, I believe that transparency is critical in all communications with constituents, both during meetings and outside of them. I have attended many commissioner meetings where I witnessed constituents being threatened during public comment time limits, which is unacceptable. Everyone deserves to have their voice heard in a respectful environment. If elected, I plan to continue fostering open dialogue. I believe in town hall meetings to create a space where residents can share their concerns and ideas without fear of intimidation. This allows for meaningful conversations and helps build trust within our community. Additionally, I believe in using multiple channels to communicate with constituents, including email, social media, newsletters, and community forums. This way, we can keep everyone informed about upcoming meetings, decisions, and opportunities to engage. Our current Commissioner’s Board do utilize many of these platforms already. Moreover, I will advocate for adhering to a respectful code of conduct during all meetings, ensuring that all voices are respected and heard.
